We go here all the time. Friendly hipster atomosphere. Updikes on ice wonderful. I get the fresh brewed Iced tea. If you blink you will miss the place. But don't just drive by. Stop in you won't be sorry. I have bought coffee beans there as well. Fresh roasted perfection.

I bought a bag of the El Salvador Peaberry Batres Estate at the Kenyon Mill Festival, and it was the best coffee I've purchased in RI. Perfectly roasted, maybe a touch darker than most specialty shops roast their single origins, which I really liked. If I lived in South County this would be my go to shop.

A local coffee roaster with a growing reputation. Ever since the Additons (Stephanie & Mark) bought the old Majik Coffee, they've been serving up the best cup of coffee for miles around. Just to go in the place while they're roasting is a huge treat. You'll become an addict.

I have been traveling to this fantastic coffee spot since I returned home from Iraq. I am a dedicated coffee snob and will not bore you with all the intricacies of coffee flavorings etc. The beans are roasted fresh on site. Mark will tell you what is coming in and when to grab some when you have established yourself as a regular. I only use a coffee press for my coffee. We grind it ourselves. This is the only place I can get fresh roasted coffee and it is actually fresh roasted. I prefer the dark Dahlia. Recently we added an old school espresso maker to our colection of coffee making devices and the espresso beans we picked up were perfect. There was no bitterness people seem to expect from coffee. Most of their coffee is fair trade. However this little place of coffee heaven actually contacted a small coffee farm to get their own style of beans. The crowd that gathers there during the hustle and bustle is always friendly. After a few visits you will probably have met the whole family, the employee family, and a ton of new friends. They launched their own coffee inspired skin care line awhile back and the soap is pretty good. If you can actually get one they have coffee coozys made out of the bean burlap bags. I believe there are a couple purses made out of them running around too. Mark the Roasting genuis will take the time to explain coffees and flavorings with you if he is not slammed. He is a wealth of knowledge. I seek out coffee places here and there and this one will give you some of the freshest roasted beans. I have been to others and gotten "fresh" beans and not gotten the tell tale CO2 foam head on the coffee press and received a slightly bitter taste. This is a real deal place to get fresh beans. See you there!

Very knowledgeable about their coffee. Love to come here and try new coffees for home. Great friendly service. Cozy, comfortable not at all pretentious. A little pricey but totally worth it. The Dads Decaf is amazing. The Gilded Lily is a fantastic ice coffee.

Wonderful place to drink some high quality coffee. Their roasts are on the dark side but they have brilliant flavor. I enjoy iced coffee the best and theirs tastes like caramel without any flavoring. They don't have many good options but the coffee is why people go here. A bag of their coffee would make a perfect gift! Last but not least their staff is incredibly nice and friendly.

This is real coffee! I regularly drive out of my way to come and get an espresso from these guys. Both the coffee and the service are without a doubt top-notch. This review would be 5 stars but I have -1 for the selection of food. They do have awesome coffee cake, and I know its not a restaurant, but a croissant or a couple of danish pastries would mean this is a one stop breakfast and coffee stop. Regardless I love it and you will too.

great variety, delicious beverages -- normally would say 5 stars, but I've been three times and two of the times they've been out of soy milk, and the other time they only had a small amount left. i'm lactose intolerant so had to go elsewhere. unfortunately don't think i'll be back.

If you want good coffee then don't come here because they have great coffee! What's even better than their drinks? The staff, hands down. They are all so sweet, helpful and even early mornings they have a smile and personality which lacks in other places no matter what time of day you go. Atmosphere is cozy with mid-century furniture and groups of people that seem more like family instead just customers. All in all, wonderful place

Updike's Newtown is a great little coffee spot, tucked into one of the many shopping strips on Tower Hill Road. Nothing earth shattering or revolutionary going on in here; you walk in and behind the counter you can see the roasters in action roasting the beans you will soon drink. I'm a huge fan of the espresso's and ice coffee's UN churn out and I've had family come visit who had nothing but glowing things to say about their Americano's and Cappuccino's. The interior is just really mellow and chill too; just some old, comfy couches and lounge chairs to post up on and enjoy your brew. While UN is a little out of the way for me on a early morning weekend, I will continue to stop in, get my large (and when I say large, I mean a barrel!) ice coffee/shot of espresso and get the day started off right.

Very sweet spot for coffee and some chill time. It is a nice place to read a book, borrow a book or meet some friends. The staff was very friendly. Warm environment.

Amazing coffee and the young guy and girl who work their regularly are hands down the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting in a coffee shop and their dark roast is lovely. My only complaint is that they don't have dairy substitutes and so I've had to stop going there regularly on my way to work. My recommendation? Iced Gilded Lily. If they had Almond/coconut milk I'd be ordering it every day. :)

Coffee - top notch - 5! Setting - not great for spending an afternoon for the internet- 4. I was running an errand in Wickford Village and asked advice on a spot for good coffee and wifi - all the locals agreed that the UN was my best bet. I was not disappointed! The owner was very helpful in explaining a bit about their beans and recommended the house dark roast - Dalia Dark, a mix of beans from Columbia and New Guinea. Perfect - neither burnt nor acidic. I will definitely return for coffee (great gift options, too!) But not a great spot to spend an afternoon - not set up for short computer cords, loud music, etc.

CM has it right. THE best coffee beans around. Ground on site or bought whole, these fresh beans deliver the best coffee, and I like mine robust. Stephanie , the owner , is very personable and loves her business.
